演講簡介:This lecture focuses on computational demography in the context of scientific computing, data science, and open science. It aims to demonstrate how cutting-edge research methods and techniques enable us to build new data that enables us to conduct researches that were infeasible to do. The lecture briefly brings to you:
(1) techniques in record linkage and highly precise geocoding methods;
(2) how data science and scientific computing enable us to build new sources of research data;
(3) the role of open science in promoting crowd collaboration and making hard-to-reach population visible to the real world, using the research on Taiwan indigenous peoples as example. For details, refer to https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s43545-025-01049-1.
